These holy grounds have been blessed and soaked with prayer since 1879 when the Benedictine Sisters first arrived here. Thanks to the generosity of our benefactors and friends, the Sisters remain on these grounds to provide adults a welcoming, peaceful and quiet place to seek God in the solitude and beauty of nature.
The needs of this ministry vary from time to time. If you have the financial capacity to donate funds, we would be most grateful. If you have contacts who have the ability and willingness to help, you would make a significant contribution to the stability and viability of this ministry, if you would let them know of our needs. We also always need generous hearts and hands to work with the Sisters to complete the daily tasks.
Our current needs list:
- New barn for the hay to meet the needs of the cows and bulls. The current barn was built in 1908. We sell older cows and young weened bulls to help financially offset the costs of this ministry. Currently, the herd number is 48. This number fluctuations throughout the year(s).
- Quality hay and/or funds to purchase quality hay for the herd.
- Gator/mule. This equipment allows us to better take care of the hermitages as we prepare for new retreatants to arrive as well as allows us to reach all of our rugged areas on the 200-plus acres that we must maintain and constantly scan for fences down, trail maintenance, calves out, and general yard duty to take care of these beautiful grounds.
- Adults who enjoy helping the Sisters to clean and stock the hermitages.
- Adults who enjoy yard/garden work.
